Spring Garden Walks Saturdays and Sundays, 1:30 pm. One-hour, guided walks through blooming landscapes reveal Henry Francis du Pont’s secrets of naturalistic garden design and detail. Reservations suggested.

The Incredible Elastic Chairs of Samuel Gragg This exhibition presents the inventive, inspired furniture of Samuel Gragg (1772-1855), who in 1808 patented a remarkable design for the classical-style seating that was in vogue at that time. The chair design, which he referred to as “elastic,” was fundamentally different from any other contemporary furniture, and the construction techniques used by Gragg were revolutionary.

Kid Stuff: Growing Up at Winterthur Family fun at the Galleries of Winterthur. Join us on Saturday, March 15, for the opening celebration of Kid Stuff, a new interactive exhibition that will carry “modern” children back in time to experience life as it was on the Winterthur estate in the late 1800s.

Spirit of the Garden 9 am – 3:30 pm Capture the spirit of the garden in this one-day garden design course at Winterthur Lectures and workshops will demonstrate how the natural landscape can inspire the creation of gardens of beauty, meaning and spirit. Beginners as well as experienced gardeners will enjoy this one-day special offering.

Easter in the Garden 10 am – 3 pm

Bring the whole family to Winterthur this Easter for some family fun. C. Shells, a children’s musical duo, will be back this year for two interactive performances in Enchanted Woods. Shelly Craig and Cindy Kays have performed together for the past nine years, delighting audiences with their stringed and percussion instruments and entertainment props. The Easter Bunny will also make an appearance. Face painting and fun in the ever-popular Touch-It Room round out the day’s activities.
