The village of Centreville is at the center of hunt country, between Longwood Gardens and Winterthur and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Named after the nearby Quaker Friends Center Meeting House around 1750, the village was the perfect spot for Chester Country, PA, farmers and cattle ranchers to stop on their way to market at the river port of Wilmington. The historic village is now a popular shopping area with small specialty shops and galleries clustered nearby Buckley’s Tavern, a Centreville institution. In the summer months there is a farmer’s market on Thursdays.
